A new retro compilation due out next month will bring three Japanese Famicom games to the West for the first time.
The collection, called “Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection,” includes three Japan-only 8-bit releases and gives them a full official English translation.
The three games included are “Firework Thrower Kantaro's 53 Stations of the Tokaido”, “The Wing of Madoola” and “Ripple Island”.
Each game will receive quality of life features including save states, rewind, a CRT filter, multiple aspect ratios and borders. A gallery mode will also include concept art and promotional materials.
The collection will be released digitally for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch on September 6th, priced at $9.99.
A physical PS5 version will also be released in Europe on October 4th for $34.99, as well as a Deluxe Edition for $39.99, which also includes a reversible cover, a poster and an acrylic stand with the Sunsoft logo.
The official descriptions of each Sunsoft game are as follows:
- The 53 Stations of the Tokaido by Fireworks Thrower Kantaro (Action, 1986): As fireworks maker Kantaro, prevent evil traders from turning his creations into weapons.
- The Wing of Madoola (Action, 1986): Help the fierce warrior Lucia to retrieve the mighty wing Madoola from the evil King Daltos. Directed by Kenji Sada (Blaster Master), with music by Naoki Kodaka (Albert Odyssey, Super Fantasy Zone).
