All Nippon Airways (ANA) has collaborated with The Pokémon Company to create the world’s first in-flight safety video featuring Pokémon.
The video you can see above is a Pokémon version of a traditional airline safety video. The video features Pokémon such as Pikachu, Pichu, Psyduck, Machamp, Machoke, and more.
“With this collaboration, we aim to add excitement to our customers and provide a flight safety video that is fun for people of all ages,” ANA said in a press release.
The video is shown in both the “Pikachu Jet NH” and the “Eevee Jet NH” aircraft.
The video is full of new, custom animations featuring the various Pokémon, including Mr. Mime showing passengers how to put an oxygen mask on their face and tighten it.
The Pokémon Company has been working with airlines for years, with the first Pokémon-themed aircraft liveries debuting over 20 years ago, but this is the first time the company has allowed its characters to appear in a safety video of this kind.
Several Japanese airports and Singapore's Changi Airport offer aviation-themed Pokémon merchandise that can only be purchased at those locations. In-flight items on Pokémon ANA flights are resold online at huge markups, even though they're often something as simple as a paper cup or napkin.
