Blanchett was previously nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of the high elf Galadriel in Jackson's film interpretation of Tolkien's fantasy books. “I basically got a free sandwich,” Blanchett told Cohen. “And I was able to keep my ears.” She explained that by the early 2000s, when The Lord of the Rings movies came out, it was no longer common for actors to be paid for box office performance, adding, “Women don't get paid as much as you think.”
Blanchett stars as bounty hunter Lilith in the movie Borderlands, which opens this week.
