The studios behind Dead Cells released the last major update for the game today.
Titled “The End is Near,” it is the game’s 35th title update since its initial release over seven years ago.
The update is now available on PC and consoles and includes new mobs, weapons, mutations, and biome effects that expand on the curse mechanic.
It also introduces over 40 new head skins, 18 new legendary affixes, additional accessibility options, and more.
Dead Cells was released in Early Access on Steam in May 2017 before coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC the following August. iOS and Android versions followed in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The rogue-like, Castlevania-inspired action-platformer was originally developed by Motion Twin and more recently by Evil Empire, a subsidiary studio formed for the game's DLCs.
Well, that's it – the last update we made for Dead Cells (and the last update ever) is now here 🫡
Thank you to everyone in the community, we had so much fun creating amazing content with you, and of course thank you @motiontwin for letting us play with your creation! https://t.co/fpq8L5yGMA— Evil Empire (@Studio_Evil) 19 August 2024
Motion Twin and Evil Empire claimed last summer that Dead Cells had surpassed the 10 million mark.
Evil Empire's latest game, The Rogue Prince of Persia, was released via Steam Early Access in May.
Motion Twin’s next game is Windblown, “a lightning-fast action roguelite” for 1-3 players, due out on Steam this year.
