Epic Games and Disney have announced Fortnite x Marvel: Absolute Doom, the next Marvel-focused season for Fortnite.
During D23, the new season was unveiled by Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni and Pixar studio boss Pete Doctor.
Fortnite x Marvel: Absolute Doom begins on August 16. The Battle Pass will include Marvel characters such as Doctor Doom and Gwenpool.
Epic announced this week that Battle Pass skins may be sold in the Item Store after an exclusivity period, marking a big change for the live service giant.
A blog posted on Wednesday said that any items included in future Fortnite Battle Passes could be available for sale in the Fortnite store 18 or more months after the Battle Pass in question expires.
Epic added: “Part of the reason for this change is that we want players to enjoy Battle Pass content like outfits based on popular licensed characters in the future.”
Previous Fortnite Battle Passes and Item Shop have featured numerous Marvel characters, so this season some of the lesser-known characters are also part of the offering.
Alongside this new season, a new set of X-Men skins has been released for the game, based on the Disney+ series X-Men 97. The characters include Cyclops, Jubilee and Colossus.
Earlier this summer, Fortnite introduced a new Battle Royale mode with classic weapons and locations.
