One of the best parts Hard Boiled Chow Yun-fat's incredible performance as the charismatic Inspector Tequila. Suffocation puts players directly in Tequila's shoes, with Yun-fat reprising his role. While the plot is much more melodramatic and less tightly paced than the film, it's still a great time. There's plenty of crime, kidnapping, and more bullets than you could possibly imagine. It's a cheap action fever dream worthy of Woo's name.

This is exactly what this action does: Suffocation It's a lot of fun, because the game works overtime to translate the signature style of Woo's films into something you can actually play. It plays out as a third-person shooter with a unique feel. If you've ever seen a Woo movie, you know the director's fondness for incredibly choreographed action sequences with slow motion, dual-wielding weapons, and, yes, lots of pigeons flying around.

One of the best aspects Suffocation is the decision to eliminate the need to reload many of the weapons you'll use to take down enemies. Instead, you start with plenty of ammunition and breeze through levels without having to worry about resource shortages. This means you can run and shoot to your heart's content. And when you consider how many enemies each level is filled with, you'll be doing a lot of that. To mimic the action ballet of Woo movies, Tequila can also dive around in slow motion – a Max Payne—and shoot with more time to aim into the air.

There's also a style mechanic during combat to encourage you to play with a cinematic vibe, something you see more of in hack-n-slash games. Devil May Cry instead of a third-person shooter. You earn stars that represent how stylish you are by defeating enemies, performing slow-motion dives, and activating special abilities called Tequila Bombs during combat. All of this comes together to Suffocation a wild and fun action game with a cinematic touch that puts you in the director's chair of every scene. For two dollars, it's worth a weekend, and definitely not to be missed. Also, go watch it Hard Boiled.
