Gamescom Opening Night Live producer Geoff Keighley has stated that Hollow Knight: Silksong will not be featured at the show.
In a post on X, the producer – who also produces the Summer Game Fest and the Game Awards – warned fans that the game will not appear there.
“Just to be clear, there will be no Silksong at ONL on Tuesday,” he wrote. “Team Cherry Games is still cooking.”
Over the past few years, whenever a major publisher held a showcase or digital event, fans quickly began to speculate and hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to the popular Hollow Knight, would be released again.
This has become such a meme in recent years that the terms “Hollow Knight” and “Silksong” regularly trend on X after every Nintendo Direct or similar presentation.
Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in February 2019 and is scheduled to be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Back in May 2023, Team Cherry postponed the game's release from a planned release in the first half of 2023 to an unspecified launch window.
According to its developer, Silksong will feature a brand new kingdom, over 150 different enemies, and a Silk Soul mode, a new difficulty level that changes the game dramatically after the first playthrough.
Players control Hornet, a “protector of Hallownest,” and experience adventures in a kingdom “ruled by silk and song.”
