As you progress through the Main Story FFXIV, You will encounter a quest titled “The Company You Keep”. During this quest, you will be required to join one of the three Great Companies. Your options are Maelstrom in Limsa Lominsa, Twin Adder in Gridania, and Immortal Flames in Ul'Dah. Your choice will have no effect as they all lead to a quest that unlocks Chocobos, but they do affect the next Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) with Maelstrom members getting “Till Sea Swallows All”, Twin Adder members getting “Woods Will Be Done”, and Immortal Flames members getting “For Coin and Country”.

Once these quests are complete, you can speak to each faction representative to accept a new Feature Quest titled “My Little Chocobo”. This is a quest that will reward you with a Chocobo once completed.

There are some slight differences in how you complete “My Little Chocobo” depending on which Company you join. Each variation will require you to obtain a Chocobo Warrant, which can be purchased from your Company's store using “Seals”. Seals are a type of currency awarded by your Grand Company for completing different in-game tasks, which can be used to purchase special items, such as the key item for this task.

It is important to note that the Seals used are specific to that Company, so you cannot use the currency from the Twin Adder to purchase items from Immortal Flames. Each Company's shop should be right next to the quest giver for “My Little Chocobo”. Once obtained, you will need to present it to that region's Chocokeep to receive your mount. Below are the types of seals each Company uses, the type of Chocobo Issuance you will need, and who to present it to.

  • Maelstrom Members will need 200 Storm Sigils to purchase a Storm Chocobo Emission and present it to Fraegeim in Limsa Lominsa.
  • Twin Adder Members will need 200 Serpent Seals to purchase the Serpent Chocobo Order and present it to Cingur in Gridania.
  • Immortal Flames Members will need 200 Flame Sigils to purchase a Flame Chocobo Export in Ul'Dah and present it as a Mimigun.

Once you've done that, you'll need to name your Chocobo and then speak to their respective Chocokeep (Fraegeim, Cingur, or Mimigun) to hand them their quest, at which point you'll unlock Mounts and be rewarded with a Chocobo Whistle.

How to Obtain Seals?

That might have explained how to complete the quest, but now you might be wondering, “How do I get a seal for my Chocobo Issuance form?” Remember the quest you completed earlier to unlock “My Little Chocobo”? It provided a reward of 300 seals from your respective Company, so you should have enough seals to get the Issuance and turn it in for a Chocobo! If you've already spent it, the easiest way to get more is to participate in small combat events called FATEs scattered around the world.

How Do I Summon My Chocobo?

You may have noticed that the reward for “My Little Chocobo” is not the bird itself, but a Chocobo Whistle. This is an item that must be used to register the mount on your character. To do this, go to your inventory and find the Chocobo Whistle. Select the “Use” Option. You will now have a Chocobo ready to ride! Keep in mind that any mount you receive will be provided to you in this manner, so if you are confused as to why a particular mount is not appearing in your Mount Options, check your inventory and make sure to use the relevant item.
