Once upon a time a human being contains several safe Deviants; these are helpers that assist you in combat, provide buffs at the base, or gather and harvest resources at home. Buzzing Bee. Deviants that help you in combat are the most useful right away, while those that help you craft or gather are the backbone of your adventure. Without them, you'd end up sitting at your base crafting ammunition for ten or twenty minutes. Boring! Let's get this over with.
Someone Once upon a time a human being's most useful crafting Deviants is a mid-game creature known as the Artisan's Touch. It's a rare drop, but can only be obtained from Scorchers in two mid-level zones.
Here's how to get Artisan's Touch: Once upon a time a human being!
Where can I buy Artisan's Touch?
The most effective way—really, Only A viable way—to get the Artisan's Touch—is to farm Scorchers. They're a relatively threatening enemy at first glance, but once you get into battle, they're big babies. I'll explain how to defeat these walking mortars in a moment.
Burners can be found in: Greywater Industrial Zone And Hearst IndustriesBoth are mid-game areas, around level 20-25, so you'll need to be at least level 18 before diving into either. Oh, and bring plenty of ammo and sanity gum!
However, Artisan's Touch will rarely drop from Scorchers. It is not an easy Deviant to catch, and it may be necessary to revive Scorchers multiple times to obtain one. The easiest way to force revive Scorchers in either region is to log out and log back in after a minute or two.
Keep farming in both locations until the Artisan's Touch drops. If you want this artisan Deviant in your base, this is unfortunately your only option!
How to beat the Scorchers
Despite their massive size and howitzer faces, Scorchers are relatively easy to defeat. First and foremost, aim for the cannon's muzzle – the flaming red circle. Hitting this spot repeatedly will deal critical damage.
As their health drops, the Scorchers will literally split themselves in two. The mortar head will sprout legs and move around, shooting flaming magma balls that explode on contact. Meanwhile, the body will charge forward in a straight line. Fortunately, it's easy to dodge. But don't let their hands get to you!
This is a war of attrition and careful positioning!
How to Use Artisan's Touch
Once you're lucky enough to get Artisan's Touch, it's time to head back to base and build a Security Unit. If you have a spare, go put Artisan's Touch inside one. Otherwise, build it near your Furnace. Artisan's Touch likes warmth, and the Furnace provides ample amounts to restore Mood.

While in the Security Unit, the Artisan's Touch will constantly produce Universal Toolkits as long as his Spirit remains high. You may want to collect these periodically and store them in a storage container until you reach 40. Afterwards, you can build an All-Purpose Hand, which will allow you to repair your least durable crafted gear. To do this, you will need:
- x40 Universal Car Kits
- x15 Acid
- x40 Stardust Source
- x1 Beryllium Crystal
You will save resources in the long run because you will not have to produce the same equipment over and over again, which is much more expensive!
The Craftsman's Touch Once upon a time a human being is one of the most grinding Deviants you can secure at this point, but is also useful for those who prefer to craft and repair equipment on the fly.
