Understanding Overpower Damage
First of all, Overpower has a 3% chance process by default. While you can't increase this percentage, you can trigger Overpower in more precise ways by using various skills and aspects. When you land a hit while Overpower is active, it appears as a blue number above the enemy's head, indicating the additional damage you deal when you land a hit.
There are entire builds in the game, especially for Barbarians, that revolve around increasing the frequency and amount of Overpower Damage. This is why Barbs can one-shot bosses in end-game content.
Superior abilities by class
As mentioned earlier, only three classes in the game use Overpower: Barbarian, Druid, and Necromancer. Each class offers a variety of Overpower-related skills.
Barbarian
- Brute force – Overpower deals X% more damage when using a Two-Handed weapon
- Gushing Sores – When you apply Bleed, Bleed has a chance equal to your Critical Strike Chance, increased by 100% of your Critical Strike Damage bonus. Defeating enemies that are bleeding creates an explosion that deals 11% Bleed damage over 5 seconds.
Druid
- Provocation – While in Werebear form for X seconds, your next Ability Power
- Advanced Pollination – Your next Pulverize uses Overpower every 12 seconds while Healthy
Wizard
- Power of Rathma – While you have Health for 15 seconds, your next Blood Skill will exceed your Strength
- Blood Tides – Blood Skills deal X% more Overpower Damage. Healthy doubles the damage bonus
How to increase Overpower Damage
There are a few ways to increase Overpower Damage, which will increase your one-shot damage potential against Elite and Boss enemies.
- Will – Primary stat that determines Overpower Damage by specific percentages, where a single point in Willpower equals 0.25% Overpower Damage
- Excessive Damage – Percentage increase in Extreme Damage
- Reduce Damage with Ability – Various attachments in the game increase Overpower Damage when using certain Skills
- Reduce Damage with Weapons – A Barbarian class-specific add-on increases Overpower Damage when using Two-Handed Explosive Weapons
- Empower the Generation – An add-on that increases your Overpower Damage while increasing your buff amount
