How to successfully hack terminals
To start, find a locked terminal and walk towards the monitor. You will be prompted to interact with the computer, which will bring you closer to the screen. If the terminal is locked, the hacking mini-game will start automatically. It's confusing at first. You'll see a selection of random words, numbers, letters, and symbols. However, only one of the words listed is the correct password that will grant you entry.
There are four hacking minigame difficulty levels Collapse 76: Novice, Advanced, Expert and Master. The higher you go on the difficulty scale, the harder it is to find the correct password. You can make your life easier by investing in the appropriate Perks: Hacker, Expert Hacker and Master Hacker.
Basically, a hacking minigame Collapse 76 is a guessing game. However, there are secrets hidden inside the terminal that will make it easier to guess the correct password. These secrets are in the form of symbols, specifically symbols connected like this:
If you see one of these symbols, hover over the link. If it's a hidden selection, it will highlight the entire section. By clicking on this linked symbol piece, you'll reset your attempts or remove a bad password from the list. If you do this enough, you'll narrow down your options to just one or two possible passwords.
Let's also touch on the Similarity Score. When you select one of the possible passwords from the terminal screen, if it's incorrect, it will present a Similarity Score on the side. It will give you a grade like “3/4”. This means that the word you guessed shares three out of four letters with the correct password. For example, if you select “BEST” but the password is actually “BEAT”, it shares B, E, and T.
Running with the Similarity Score is a bit more difficult than trying to track down every secret piece of code to narrow down your options!
