The Early Access release of Hyper Light Breaker on Steam has been postponed to 2025.
It's the latest in a series of delays for the game, which was originally scheduled for Early Access in 2023 and was most recently scheduled to launch this summer.
“After careful evaluation and numerous discussions with our publisher Arc Games, we have come to the conclusion that we need a little more time to refine the gaming experience to our standards,” explained developer Heart Machine.
“We are therefore now aiming for an early access launch date early next year.”
Announced in March 2022, the sequel to the 2016 action RPG Hyper Light Drifter switches from the 2D perspective of the original game to a 3D perspective.
“We don't want to ship a project, even in Early Access, that we are not happy with in many ways,” Heart Machine's statement continues. “Especially in the current state of the industry, we need to present ourselves as best as possible.”
“As always, we're focused on maintaining a sustainable development pace for our team, which means taking care of everyone's mental and physical health needs first rather than burning the team out by trying to meet a specific launch date. This will allow the team to provide better and more responsive support for community feedback during the Early Access phase itself.”
Hyper Light Drifter debuted on PC before coming to PS4 and Xbox One a few months later and Nintendo Switch and mobile a few years after that.
Console versions of Hyper Light Breaker have yet to be announced.
