Amazon announced earlier this month that it has ordered an animated series of short films. like video games Caving And The Great Man, in the name Secret LevelNow we've got a look at the first trailer for the series, and it definitely looks like it's based on a short story. Armored CoreFromSoftware's mech games star none other than Keanu Reeves.

Secret LevelThe film, which is due out on December 10, is being made by Tim Miller and Blur Studio, the CGI studio behind the first film. Deadpool movie and Amazon's previous Love, Death and Robots sci-fi anthology. The new trailer showed off a bunch of different short film clips from the new series, and one of them definitely looks like a three-second scene of Reeves sliding his head forward into the sweaty cockpit of a robot.

And here we see FromSoftware confirming it Armored Core story:

Now there are two reasons why this is going to blow fans’ minds. First, Reeves is a great guy and has starred in timeless classics, as well as Matrix, John WickAnd Point BreakHe also gave an incredible performance as Johnny Silverhand Cyberpunk 2077It shows that you can bring A-list Hollywood talent to a video game blockbuster in a way that's elegant and well-deserved, rather than a cheap cash grab (Idris Elba did the same for the game's Ghost of Freedom (expansion from last year).

But secondly, Armored Core It’s a beloved but relatively unknown video game IP that’s up for mining for an Amazon Prime adaptation. It’s a series known for its tense mech combat, brutal post-apocalyptic sci-fi settings, and effective yet extremely understated writing and storytelling. And of course, those red robot eyes you can see in the trailer.

The pilots of these mechs are usually drugged and bonded with all sorts of weird body-horror cyber-trash and tasked with keeping their existential crises at bay by blowing things up with giant weapons. Reeves seems perfect for the role.

Last year Armored Core VI: Rubicon Fires demonstrated each of these virtues and was excellent, but it wasn't the kind of phenomenon you'd expect to see a trans-media cameo kick off, even if it was something relatively minor like representation in an anthology series. FromSoftware's other games, Dark Souls, Bloodborneand mega seller Hand Ring all seemed like much more likely candidates.

What Armored Core What they lack in fans, they make up for in their fierce devotion. If you doubt that, consider this: this five and a half hour YouTube commentary Open Armored Core VI's story with over a million views. I assume it's Secret Level's story Armored Core the introduction will be shorter, but not by much.
