It is alleged that actress Kaitlyn Dever, who will play Abby in the second season of The Last of Us, required additional security during filming.
This claim was made by fellow actress Isabela Merced in the podcast “Happy, Sad, Confused”.
“There are people who really hate Abby, even though she’s not a real person,” Merced said.
“Just a reminder, not a real person. Kaitlyn had to be especially well protected during filming.”
We won't reveal why a small portion of fans reacted negatively to Abby's inclusion in the second game, but it sparked a backlash on the internet that continues to this day.
The first footage from the second season of the television series The Last of US was shown earlier this month.
The footage was shown at the end of a montage of shows that will air in 2024 and 2025 on HBO and its streaming service Max.
Season two of The Last of Us will be released in 2025. Other new additions to the cast include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jessie, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Ariela Barer as Mel and Spencer Lord as Owen.
It has been confirmed that the season will consist of seven episodes, two fewer than the first season.
Season two will not cover the entire second part of The Last of Us, and series co-creator Craig Mazin has said the series could run beyond three seasons.
