I enjoyed every game I played on NetEase Marvel RivalsThe plot of the comic hero shooter genre very entertaining, even if obviously inspired Surveillance. It feels less sanded and polished than its obvious rival, but that does open it up to chaos and fun gameplay that's no longer possible in Blizzard's game. But I think the game needs to carve out its own space to get a leg up on the competition, and after taking the newly announced Captain America and the Winter Soldier for a spin, both are very entertaining, but that only further solidifies the idea:Marvel Rivals getting on Surveillance's victory.
Steve “Captain America” Rogers is a durable Vanguard hero who makes good use of his shield. His vibranium weapon is both his best attack and defense, giving him a versatile kit for long-range shots and close-quarters combat. Throwing Cap's shield is a pretty forgiving maneuver, as it bounces off enemies or bounces off walls and other enemies if you miss your shot. It's a real treat to watch your metal frisbee hit multiple enemies before bouncing back at you.
But America's Ass' best tool is using his shield defensively. It's not as big as Doctor Strange's, so it can't be used to protect your entire team. But it works well enough for Steve himself to get in and out of a fight. But the best thing he did was raise my eyebrows. Gamescom presentation: Can be used to deflect projectiles, including high-powered attacks like Iron Man’s explosive ultimate. While it sounds incredibly oppressive, it’s not easy to just throw up your shield when a team-destroying ability is coming your way. In my experience, it requires some skill and precision, or Tony Stark will still blow your ass off. The shield is small. And so is the hitbox. It doesn’t feel like an easy get-out-of-jail-free card, which means it’s more of an uneven skill game than something that renders ranged attacks useless.
While Cap has some distinct abilities, much of his kit seems derivative of his Surveillance heroes like several other characters Marvel Rivals' staff. Her ultimate ability is almost identical to Brigitte's Rally, which buffs her and nearby allies with bonus health. If you Surveillance Players who think Brigitte should have been a tank back in the day GOATS meta dayseventually embodied in Captain America. He also mostly got the sprint of Soldier: 76. Surveillance's Captain America replacement, before he became Batman replacement. So it's actually a complete cycle swap.
Bucky also feels like a mix Surveillance heroes, albeit a bit unexpected. A damage-focused Duelist hero, Winter Soldier feels like Roadhog and Doomfist. He has a shotgun that fires two bullets before reloading, but unlike Roadhog, he can't take out an enemy in two shots. Instead, he relies on his mechanical arm to pull enemies in close and then use it to Doomfist uppercut. A wicked combo that can take out an enemy in a fraction of a second if you follow it up with well-placed strikes. But it's also like Surveillance's roster and trying to find ways to add multiple hero abilities to a much more recognizable character.
I still largely agree that: Marvel Rivals' from the drawing Surveillance It's good, and I like the game for bringing back mechanics that no longer exist in Blizzard's game, like Adam Warlock reviving Mercy's team that was long gone. But it will need more characters that aren't as easy to define as Jeff the Land Shark. Surveillance short for creating your own space. I can't wait to see NetEase try to create their own identity Marvel Rivals It starts on December 6th.
