Remedy Entertainment has provided updates on several of its upcoming titles, including Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Condor.
According to the developer, Control 2 has “progressed to production readiness.” The game is now playable as the team has reached a major milestone in the game's development. “The development team is working to ramp up production on the project,” says Remedy.
Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, which Remedy is working on in co-production with Rockstar, has “moved from production readiness to full production.” According to Remedy, the team is currently working on a version of the game that is playable from start to finish.
Remedy also provided an update on its project, codenamed Condor. “The development team has been working on multiple maps and different mission types, and we have organized a growing number of internal and limited external playtests for feature validation and feedback,” it said.
Alan Wake 2, Remedy's latest release, has also now recouped most of its development and marketing costs. Remedy released its first Alan Wake 2 DLC, Night Springs, in June, with a second expansion set to launch later this year.
Last year, Remedy's creative director Sam Lake said in an interview with VGC that the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 would require a lot of work.
“It's a major undertaking in the sense that even if these are old games, just the thought of bringing them up to modern standards and combining them into a single game makes you realize it's a big, big project,” he explained.
When asked if he would reprise his role as Max from the first game, Lake laughed.
“No comment!” he replied. “That’s going too far.”
