In the early 2010s, a strange little shooter emerged called Metro 2033 It didn’t come out of nowhere. Adapted from a similarly named sci-fi novel by author Dmitry Glukhovsky, this film didn’t take the world by storm, but the story-driven FPS, which tells the story of a community trying to survive a nuclear apocalypse by hiding in Moscow’s subway stations and tunnels, garnered enough attention to become a franchise. Metro series has become a loving torchbearer for “weird fiction” shooters after a long hiatus now returning FOLLOWER sherry.
The whole of the whole Metro The trilogy is currently on a pretty big sale on Steam, while select games in the series are cheap on other platforms. You can get the entire series, including: Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Metro Exit (and its expansion) are just over $9 on Steam. You can also pick up remasters of both on PlayStation 2033 And Last Light for $3 each.
The Metro The series is developed by 4A Games, which consists of a number of former developers. FOLLOWER series and they share much of the same DNA. Both are set in the aftermath of nuclear apocalypses in Russia, and both are survival games that blend sci-fi and supernatural elements. Whereas FOLLOWER while traditionally more open-ended, it is set in the aftermath of a second Chernobyl disaster in an area known only as the Zone. Metro games were much more linear and story-driven.
Metro It focuses on the life of Artyom, a young man who comes into his own as a ranger in the Moscow Metro. Throughout the first two games, he investigates entities known as the Dark Ones while trying to navigate the conflicts between the various factions of survivors who call the underground home. These first two titles, 2033 And Last LightOften praised for their vast and claustrophobic atmosphere, most missions take place in the unbearably dark tunnels beneath Moscow. Sometimes missions take place above ground, where players must wear equipment to protect themselves from radiation damage, mutated creatures, and supernatural events and anomalies, while also constantly maintaining the equipment that keeps them alive.
This overhaul expands into an entire crafting system in the third game. Exitmy favorite work of the trilogy. Leaving the tangled tunnels of Russia, Artyom, his wife Anna, and a group of allies board a train and explore the rest of war-torn Europe; meanwhile, Exit It is possible more looks more like FOLLOWERIt shuttles you across hostile open environments and tasks you with crafting survival tools like gas masks and ammunition, and it strips away the series' UI elements in favor of a purely narrative interface.
For example, the compass you use is on Artyom's wristwatch, which also counts the use of one minute of air filters for his mask. Speaking of the gas mask, it can crack in combat and must be sealed with duct tape and eventually repaired to make it work. The rifles are gas-pumped and fire bullet-like pellets that you craft from rare materials! You spot points of interest with your binoculars and mark them on a map that Artyom has to manually mine. Many people have said it before, Exit has the most incredible sense of place and for what it's worth, , The most immersive game I've ever played.
I love Exit and I still think fondly of how hard it took you Think about your belongings and take good care of them. Even though I don't remember the names of every single player, the touching moments they shared in their personal cars in Aurora stayed with me longer than I thought they would. The gunfight is filled with tension as you compare the challenge in front of you to your scarcity of supplies. Mistakes and”eurojank“like the titles of the period Metro And FOLLOWER The series is ambitious and I can't fault it for aiming for the stars.
Before its publication FOLLOWER 2 I can't think of a better game series to play this fall. Exit is the longest but if you try to do everything on offer it can still be completed in about 30 hours. And I encourage you to do so because Exit If my own experience is any indication, it's a fantastic game that will stay with you for a while. The first two games are around 10-15 hours each, so you could spend a month of your free time picking them out and be good to go. FOLLOWER 2Launching in November, you’re welcome to run, don’t walk, to get these games now.
