When Christopher Nolan doesn't release a movie this year, theaters are bringing back one of his old movies to make up for it. Interstellar was scheduled to return to theaters next month but has instead been delayed to December, Variation reports.
The 2014 space epic starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain will return to theaters on Dec. 6 instead of Sept. 27 as originally planned. The rerelease marks the 10th anniversary of Nolan's ninth film and will include 70mm IMAX screenings.
Interstellar It follows astronauts on a mission to find a new habitable planet to which Earth's remaining inhabitants can escape. It's a film about planetary destruction and the power of love, and one of Nolan's more emotional and human projects. It's the only time he's worked with McConaughey, and the actor gives one of his best performances at his peak. McConaissance (Dallas Buyers Club (it was a year ago).
So why the delay? “Theatrical release date has been pushed back to coincide with the home entertainment restart.” Variation reports. I have no idea what this actually means because Interstellar is already available at home, but the broadcaster says Paramount has denied recent rumors that the change was due to the original 70mm reels being lost or destroyed.
Instead, Paramount says it has plenty of archived copies of the film, but some of the reels have suffered wear and tear from standard use. The company adds that it's normal for them to become unusable after their original theatrical release. I think Paramount is just Transformers One at the box office that month.
Whatever the case, it's worth waiting a few more months for fans to witness it once again. One of the coolest space scenes in the movie on the big screen. Also, it will be interesting to re-evaluate one of them NolanIt is one of the most impressive films of his time (which he co-wrote with his brother Jonathan Nolan). A TikTok that went viral recently It popularized a completely inverted interpretation of the film, full of holes but fun to think about on repeat viewings.
