Ola's Roadster e-bikes hit 120 mph for less than $3,000

Last August, Indian mobility company Ola Electric announced its upcoming range of full-size electric motorcycles. The company has now provided specifications for a family of bikes called Roadsters with a range of up to 579 km (360 miles) and a top speed of 194 km/h (121 mph).

There are three basic models of the Roadster: the standard Roadster, the Roadster X, and the Roadster Pro. To complicate matters a bit, there are also three versions of the standard Roadster, named after their battery capacities in kilowatt-hours: 3.5, 4.5, and 6. There are also three versions/battery capacities of the Roadster X: 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5.

All bikes include safety features like collision warning and other rider assistance systems, a traction control system that prevents skidding and hydroplaning, and an automatic system that prevents unwanted wheel lifts and stalls (aka endos). As an added bonus, riders' hands and hips are kept comfortable thanks to an integrated handlebar and seat heating/cooling system.

The standard Roadster starts at Rs 104,999 (about $1,250)

At the top of the standard Roadster range, the Roadster 6 has a maximum power of 13 kW, a top speed of 126 km/h (78 mph) and a 0 to 40 km/h (25 mph) acceleration time of 2.6 seconds. Drivers can choose between Hyper, Sport, Normal and Eco modes, with the latter providing a claimed battery range of 248 km (154 miles) per charge.

Its ABS can be set to Race, Urban or Rain modes to suit every driving scenario. The system also automatically regulates braking when cornering for optimum performance and safety.

Other features of the Roadster 6 include double-spoke alloy wheels with disc brakes, mono shock rear suspension, brake-by-cable system and a handlebar-mounted 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen with 5G/Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Roadster X 4.5 tones things down a bit, doing away with the Hyper mode, ABS and mono shock, and also replacing it with a smaller 4.3-inch LED display. The bike also reduces peak power to 11 kW, resulting in a top speed of 124 km/h (77 mph) and a 0-40 time of three seconds. One charge of its battery should be enough for 200 km (124 miles).

The Roadster Pro is priced from Rs 250,000 (US$2,977)

Moving up the ladder, the sole version of the Roadster Pro re-introduces all the flashy features of the Roadster 6, plus an incredible power output of 52 kW, with a claimed top speed of 194 km/h (121 mph).

Its 16kWh battery is claimed to provide a range of up to 579km (360 miles)…again, that's in Eco mode. The Pro also has a larger 10-inch touchscreen, corner to corner.

If you live in Ola's Asian market and want an electric motorcycle, the price of the standard Roadster begins Priced at 104,999 rupees (about $1,250), the Roadster X drops to 74,999 rupees ($893) and the Roadster Pro climbs to a still-reasonable 250,000 rupees ($2,977).

The Ola Electric is currently taking pre-orders, with deliveries not expected to begin until the fourth quarter of 2026. You can see the Roadsters in action in the video below.
