The next expansion to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet – Surging Sparks, has been announced.
The set contains over 250 cards, making it one of the most comprehensive sets ever. New Tera Pokémon are included, as well as more ACE SPEC cards, which are a popular addition to the competitive side of the trading card game.
The set will be released on November 8th.
“Terawatts of electricity fall from the sky in a tropical paradise, setting the stage for supercharged Pikachu Ex,” reads a description of the new set.
“With the power of a Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, it lights up the shore to reveal a parade of Dragon-type Pokémon led by the mighty Alolan Exeggutor ex! Archaludon ex and Latias ex complete the horde, while new ACE SPEC cards and more new Pokémon ex bring their own surprises. Currents crackle and dragons roar in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks expansion!”
This English-language set will likely consist of cards from the Japanese Paradise Dragona set, the first cards of which were shown over the weekend.
Surging Sparks will be released in traditional TCG products such as booster boxes, meaning it is not considered a “special set” and will be available at most retailers.
The next game in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Legends ZA, was announced earlier this year.
The game, which will be the second Pokémon Legends game after Pokémon Legends Arceus, was revealed last month during a Pokémon Presents presentation.
With Pokémon Legends ZA, scheduled for release in 2025, players will be able to revisit the Kalos region and Lumoise City.
