Sony Interactive Entertainment and Ballistic Moon have confirmed the release date for the upcoming re-release of Until Dawn.
The game, which will be “re-engineered and enhanced for PS5 and PC,” will be released on October 4.
The ports are handled by the British studio Ballistic Moon. The original game was developed by Supermassive Games.
“Redesigned and enhanced for PS5 consoles and PC, Until Dawn invites you to relive the nightmare and immerse yourself in a gripping slasher horror where every decision can mean the difference between life and death,” the game's description reads.
The developer also announced some new accessibility and usability settings that are not present in the original game. “We have developed a new optional alternative for the Don't Move mechanic called Stay Calm. Stay Calm is intended for third-party peripherals that do not have a gyroscope or for players who prefer a different challenge.”
Until Dawn is an interactive horror game in which eight friends fight for survival after returning to a remote mountain cabin where two members of the group disappeared a year earlier.
Starring Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, the game features a branching narrative in which the player's choices determine the fate of the characters, all of whom can live or die.
Filming began earlier this month on a movie adaptation of Until Dawn, directed by David F. Sandberg, director of Annabelle: Creation, Shazam! and Lights Out. The game's original cast will not return in their original roles.
