Trek's “award-winning enduro hard-hitter” joins the electric revolution

Trek has announced the launch of its “most requested trail ride of the year.” The premium bikemaker’s new Slash+ enduro model gives dedicated riders dedicated to tough terrain a little motor boost and an all-new battery, allowing them to stay in the saddle longer.

The electric version of the “long-distance legend” features the same 250W (300-watt peak) mid-drive motor as 2022’s Fuel EXe eMTB.

The TQ HPR50 was chosen for its quiet operation and compact form, as well as its natural riding feel to “help riders comfortably cruise up climbs without getting winded at the top.” However, this specification choice limited torque to just 50 Nm (36.8 lb.ft), which is noticeably lower than some relatively new models such as Orbea's Wild and Luna's X2.

The Slash+ comes with a larger battery than the Fuel EXe, which was first introduced at Eurobike 2024. The 580-Wh unit is securely bolted inside the downtube of the OCLV Mountain Carbon frame and can be removed for indoor charging using a hex key. A 160-Wh range extender is optionally available for more time off-road and can be stowed in the included bottle cage.

A simple display on the top tube shows the e-bike's basic stats, and the system can be adjusted via a companion mobile app.

The bike features the same 170mm high pivot suspension as its less powerful Slash ancestor. “On descents, the high pivot’s rear axle path allows the rear wheel to move with the terrain, keeping momentum high and traction constant,” Trek explains. “Point it uphill and the high pivot paired with the HPR50 opens up a whole new world of ability for tackling treacherous climbs.”

It ships in a mullet configuration with a 29-inch wheel up front and a 27.5-inch wheel out back. The frame can also accommodate “bigger, chunkier tires, coil shocks, and longer dropper posts,” offers a flip-chip leverage ratio adjustment, while optional headset cups can change the geometry — all providing a ride that can be tuned for “any type of ride and any type of rider.”

Introducing the Trek Slash+: the ultimate long-distance e-enduro mountain bike

The 2025 Slash+ comes in two model varieties. The 9.9 variety weighs in at 46 lb (20.88 kg) and features a SRAM AXS POD Ultimate shifter and 12-speed Eagle T-Type derailleur. Shock-absorbing duties are handled by a RockShox ZEB Ultimate suspension fork and RockShox Vivid Ultimate shock, plus there’s a RockShox Reverb wireless dropper seatpost paired with a Verse Short Comp saddle.

The Pro 30 MX wheelset is wrapped in 2.5-inch-wide Bontrager SE6 Team Issue tires, while effective stopping power is provided by SRAM Maven Silver 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes. Carbon fiber handlebars round out the basic features, but the 9.9 has a multi-tool. The price tag is high at $11,999.

The 44.94 lb (20.38 kg) 9.7 version opts for the Shimano SLX/XT 12-speed gearset combo, Fox Rhythm 38 fork and Fox Performance Float X shock, and the Verse saddle and Bontrager Line dropper post. The rims wear Bontrager XR5 2.5-inch-wide tires, braking is handled by Shimano 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes, and this ride comes with alloy handlebars. And it costs a lot less—though still expensive—at $7,999.
